Morning classes begin at schools in Odisha amid heat wave

Bhubaneswar: Morning classes commenced at schools across Odisha today in view of the prevailing heat wave conditions in the state.

As per the decision of the School and Mass Education Department, classes will be held for students of Class I to VIII from 6:30 AM to 10 AM and for students of Class IX and X from 7 AM till 11 AM.

The aim of the move is to prevent the school students from exposure to heat wave conditions.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre here has forecasted that there will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) over the districts of Odisha during the next 4-5 days while it is likely to be above normal by 3 to 4°C at many places over the districts of interior Odisha and more than 40°C at a few places over the districts of interior Odisha.

People have been advised to take precautionary measures while going outside between 12 noon and 3 pm.
