Morning school in Odisha from April 1 as mercury soars

Bhubaneswar, Mar 25:

With the heat wave conditions taking several towns into its grip with each passing day, the Odisha government today ordered for morning classes in all schools across the state.

In a notification, the School and Mass Education department asked all the schools to change their class timings to the morning session from April 1.

No school in the state will remain open after 10.30 am and it will continue till next notification comes into effect. Mid day meals will be served in government schools at 10 am. In addition to this, schools will be closed for summer vacation from May 3, the notification said.

School authorities have further been asked to complete all examinations by March 31.

The headmasters have also been asked to make adequate provision for drinking water.

The state government order came on a day when the highest temperature in the state crossed 42 degree Celsius. The weather office has also predicted rise of temperature in coming days.
