‘Most wanted’ drug trafficker’s properties worth Rs 2 Cr seized in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Properties worth around Rs 2 crore belonging to most wanted drug trafficker Anil Kumar Pandi have been seized in Odisha, informed STF Odisha here today.

Special Task Force of Odisha Crime Branch identified and seized the illegal properties acquired by Anil Pandi during probe in an NDPS case. A detailed proposal for confirmation of seizure/forfeiture of the properties earned out of illegal contraband drugs business was sent to the office of Competent Authority, Kolkata as per provision of Sec. 68 (F) NDPS Act, 1985.

The seized properties included one palatial 3-storey building having luxurious amenities like swimming pool and 33 plots and bank deposits. The the building has been evaluated by the PWD R&B to be worth around Rs 1.5 crore. The valuation of other assets is in process, the STF Odisha said in a release.

STF Odisha suspected that the drug trafficker has properties in Gujarat and Maharashtra too.

Earlier, the STF Odisha had seized 10 quintal contraband Ganja, one truck and other incriminating materials in connection with the case on August 13, 2021.

Worth mentioning that Anil Pandi, son of Brundaban Pandi of Chhachina village under Kodala police limits in Ganjam district, is one of the most wanted drug traffickers involved in multiple cases in Gujarat and Odisha. Since he is absconding, court has issued a non-bailable warrant against him. Earlier, his brother Sunil Pandi was arrested by Gujarat Police.
