Sundargarh: In a tragic incident, a mother-daughter duo was burnt to death as fire broke out inside their thatched house near Bhasma police station in Odisha's Sundargarh district, last night.

The deceased have been identified as Golapi Meher (60) and her divyang daughter Laxmi Meher (35). The two were unable to come out of the house after the outbreak of fire, reports said.

On being informed by locals, Fire personnel reached the spot and doused the flames. However, it was too late to save the two women. Police have recovered the charred bodied for post-mortem.

The reason behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained.
