The son of Parvati Jali, a five-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a motorcycle on March 6 in Samal village under Kanaka panchayat. Her husband is  a migrant worker in Bangalore.

The distraught Parvati did not allow cremation of the little boy after post-mortem. She sat on a dharna in front of the house of the accused who had allegedly killed the child demanding justice.

Shockingly, the mother sat crying and without food for four days without any help from the villagers, local administration or the police.

After four days the body started decomposing, the villagers intervened and called a panchayat, where it was decided that Rs 1.5 lakh rupees will be paid by the accused to the victim’s family. They also counselled Pravati, who allowed the last rites of her son on Wednesday.

Her husband reached the village, yesterday.
