Mother-son duo electrocuted in Odisha’s Balasore

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a woman and her son were electrocuted in Khaira area of Balasore district in Odisha today.

The deceased have been identified as Tilottama Das (45), wife of Purnachandra Das of Nahula village under Mahatipur panchayat, and her son Ramachandra Das (27), sources said.

The incident took place when the mother-son duo was on their way to a nearby farmland in the morning.

“Tilottama and Ramchandra came in contact with a snapped live wire while walking towards their farmland,” said a villager.

The duo was rescued by the locals and rushed to Khaira Community Health Centre (CHC) in a critical condition. However, they were declared dead-on-arrival by the doctors, he added.

On being informed, Khaira police reached the CHC and launched a probe.

The villagers, meanwhile, blamed the Electricity department for the incident and sought stern action against the officials concerned.
