MP police arrests youth from Odisha in fake SIM card racket

Baripada: Madhya Pradesh police arrested a youth in Baisinga area of Mayurbhanj district in Odisha in connection with a fake SIM card racket.

The accused person has been identified as Tofan Singh, 21, a resident of Kadalia village under Baisinga police limits.

According to reports, Madhya Pradesh Police during investigation found Odisha connection in a cyber crime. They received an information that a SIM card from Odisha was used in the cyber fraud. In search of criminals, a team of Madhya Pradesh police reached Baisinga in Mayurbhanj district for further probe into the case.

Sources said that with help of Baisinga police, Madhya Pradesh police had detained a person identified as Birendra Sahoo of Kadalia village and quizzed him in connection with the case. During interrogation, it was revealed that the SIM card that was used for a cyber crime was registered in name of Birendra Sahoo, but he was not using that number. Therefore, the probing team released him and further investigated to nab the culprit.

Later, the police raided a shop of SIM card dealer whom Birendra had provided his documents for a SIM card. During the raid, the investigators nabbed Tofan Singh from the shop in the fake SIM card racket.
