Bhubaneswar: The multi-storey building for MLAs in Bhubaneswar is expected to come up by end of 2024, informed Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro today.
"The construction work of the building will be completed in two and a half years. Chief engineer of Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation (OBCC) has been paid an amount of Rs 50 crore for the project in first phase. The remaining Rs 225 crore will be provided by the Finance Department. Total Rs 275 crore will be spent in the project and provision for allocation has been made in the budget," Patro told reporters here after reviewing work progress of the multi-story building.
Worth mentioning that a few portion of MLA Colony has been demolished for the project.
As per the plan, 7R quarters will be constructed at the demolished site for 140 members. The building will have elevators and lobby. The area will be renovated having parks, cafeteria, swimming pool and gym centre. Besides, a special room, conference hall and guest house will be built for people visiting the legislators at their official residences.
