Bhawanipatna: Mumbai Police claimed to have busted a case in which a driver was allegedly murdered by three youths from Odisha and arrested one person in this connection from Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district of the State. The arrested accused was identified as Dharmanand Jala of Kokodmal village in Utkela panchayat within Bhawanipatna Sadar limits. The other two accused Raju Jala and Sesa Meher of Daspur village are reportedly on the run.
As per reports, the trio was working in a company at Palghar in Maharashtra. A few days back, they rented a vehicle bearing registration number MH48CK3716 to go to Nashik. Before reaching, they allegedly killed the driver and disposed of his body at the jungle nearby before going back to their respective villages in Odisha.
Mumbai Police on getting information recovered the body and started an investigation after registering a case. After getting specific inputs, they reached Kalahandi yesterday. With help from counterparts in Bhawanipatna and Kalrapada police, the cops reached Kokodmal and arrested Dharmanand.
Addressing mediapersons, Palghar police official informed that Dharmanand will be produced in the local court and then taken to Maharashtra. The other two youths involved are absconding and efforts are on to track them down. Further investigation is underway, he added.
