Bhubaneswar/Mumbai: It’s no secret that Odias living in Mumbai and other metros, miss home and most importantly the food. Social media too remains flooded with messages, seeking information about outlets where they can find authentic Odia cuisines.
And if there are none, they start one. That’s the story behind Puurn Bhoj, which has something special for all Odias residing in Mumbai this Utkala Dibasa.
The home delivery outlet at Palava City, is serving dahibara-aludum, the authentic way, for breakfast. It comes with a rider though. Only pre-orders will be home delivered on April 1 and that too in and around Palava City.
“People can place order till Friday. Depending on the response, we will continue to serve this mouth-watering dish every Sunday,” said Nilima Panda, owner of Puurn Bhoj.
Each plate has been priced at Rs 80, she added.
Panda said Odias crave for dahidara-aludum, but it is not available in its authentic form anywhere in Mumbai. “We will be serving dahibara-aludum with ghuguni and sev, exactly like the way it is available on the streets of Cuttack,” she said.
The same day, mutton jholo rice and dalma will also feature in the menu, she added.
The outlet, which currently delivers 80/90 plates of meal every day, was conceptualised on the lines of the ‘Dabbawalas’.
“Healthy, hygienic and low-oil cooking is our USP. Two sabjis, rice, roti, dal, salad and pickle are served in eight-compartment acrylic plate. We also have chicken and mutton options,” she said.
On Valentine’s Day, they had couple thalis with a rose and homemade chocolates. “We keep adding special items to our menu on other special occasions,” she said.
