Murderous assault on UTP inside jail in Odisha

An under trial prisoner (UTP) sustained grievous injuries today after he was attacked by fellow prisoners inside Aska Sub Jail in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The UTP identified as Mahendra Jena, an accused in a murder case received deep wound on his head after being attacked by fellow prisoners Bulu Nahak and Kartik Nahak during a scuffle among themselves inside the jail, reports said.

He was admitted to the nearby government hospital by jail authorities. He is back in the jail after his condition stabilized after undergoing treatment, reports added.

A case has been registered at the Aska police station in this connection, reports further added.
