Murderous attack leaves three youths critically injured at Bada Danda Market in Puri

Puri: As many as three youths sustained critical injuries after allegedly being attacked by a group at Bada Danda Market Chhak in Odisha’s Puri town, this morning.

According to reports, Sameer Das, Hrusikesh Panda and Khageswar Sahu were having tea at the market at around 6 AM when a group of 18 youths arrived at the spot with motorcycles and launched attack on the trio with swords.

The three were grievously injured in the assault. All of them were rescued and rushed to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital. Two of them were later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as their condition deteriorated.

Police have detained two persons for questioning in connection with the atack.

Preliminary probe revealed that the incident was a fallout of past enmity and group clash which had emerged over betting at ‘Khadipada Melana’ event.
