Must Watch: Krishna Beuraa’s ode to Odia classics

Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born Bollywood singer Krishna Beuraa has come up with an Odia cover song ‘Mo Priya Tharu Kiya Adhika Sundara’, which is also his favourite, as a tribute to Odia classics.

The video featuring Ollywood actress Prakruti Mishra has been conceptualized and directed by the singer himself.

Chitta Ranjan Jena had rendered his voice to the song composed by Odia music legend Prafulla Kar. It is from the movie Sindura Bindoo.

“This is my first directorial venture and an attempt to let the younger generation enjoy the golden era of Odia music as these songs are also not available on YouTube and other platforms,” said Beuraa.

He is aware of the criticism that may follow this attempt at an Odia classic, but also expects people will appreciate the effort. “The sanctity of the song has been retained. There is no use of electronic instruments or any attempt at remix. We have only used the ethic instruments like tabla and sitar, keeping the essence of the song intact,” he said.

The video was shot in a village in Khurda, which features him alongside Prakruti Mishra.

Beuraa said this is the first of many old Odia songs, he is planning to recreate. “I am already working on a number of old songs. These will help the youngsters appreciate the classic and take pride in them,” he added.

The music video ends with a beautiful message, asking people to respect women in true sense instead of writing poems and books on them.
