Naba Das murder: Accused Gopal’s first round polygraph test conducted in Gujarat FSL, DFSS

Cuttack: First round of the lie-detection test of accused Gopal Krishna Das was carried out today at the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) and Directorate of Forensic Science Services (DFSS) in Gandhi Nagar of Gujarat in connection with the murder of former Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, who died in gun attack on January 29 in Brajarajnagar of Jharsuguda district.

However, the next round of polygraph test including Narco analysis is to be conducted on Friday.

Tests are being done as per the order of JMFC-I (cognizance taking) Court, Brajarajnagar. Narco analysis will be conducted after a detailed medical examination of the accused. An eight-member team led by IO and DSP Ramesh Chandra Dora has camped in Gandhi Nagar for the purpose, a CID-CB press release stated.

It is pertinent to mention here that Forensic Psychological Assessment (FPA) and Layered Voice Analysis (LVA) tests of the accused Das (a former ASI of Odisha Police) were earlier conducted by a team of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), New Delhi at Jharsuguda on February 8.

A special Medical Board has been constituted to study the mental health of the accused Das. He has been brought on further remand of five days starting February 8 for continued interrogation.

Experts from SFSL, Gandhi Nagar and Odisha Crime Branch team recreated the crime scene on February 7. The team also analysed the physical clues obtained/collected during the probe of the case.

The financial transactions of the accused and his family members are being verified and analysed by the probe team. Documents and evidence collected are being scrutinised to ascertain the motive of the murder. Detailed service verification of the accused is also being carried out by the team.

Notably, the Crime Branch probe in connection with the CID-CB PS case (No-02, dated-29.01.2023) arising out of Brajarajnagar PS case (No-34, dated-29.01.2023 U/S 307 IPC/27(1) of Arms Act turned to Section 302/307 IPC/27(1) of the Arms Act is underway led by Additional DG (ADG) Arun Bothra.
