Naba Das murder: Odisha Oppn demands 5T Secy, Pranab Das call records examination

Bhubaneswar: Hinting at involvement of State Government in Health Minister Naba Das murder, Odisha Opposition BJP today demanded for examination of call records of 5T Secretary and Jajpur MLA in the case.

Just four days before murder of Naba Das, there was a telephonic conversation between Odisha 5T Secretary VK Pandian and Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das. That should come under purview of the investigation being conducted by Odisha Crime Branch, said Odisha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra.

“What the two were talking about? The call records of Pandian and Pranab Prakash Das should be examined. But, we affirm that Odisha Police will never probe this. That’s why we have been demanding CBI probe into the murder case,” he said while staging a dharna along with party members at entrance of the House in Odisha Assembly on the first day of Budget Session.

He termed Naba Das murder as a ‘government-sponsored’.

“The first duty of the government is to protect public lives and properties. When the government can kill its own minister, what about others? Are we safe in the state?” The government has failed in maintaining law and order in the state. As common people are not safe, there is no meaning at all in the Governor’s speech praising the government,” he clarified on BJP’s decision to boycott the Governor’s address in the House.

Odisha Assembly Budget session commenced today, the BJP members walked out of the House and sat on dharna at entrance of the House boycotting Governor’s speech. They raised slogans against the government over various issues including Naba Das murder and deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
