Naba Das murder: Weapon of offence, live bullets seized; empty case recovered from crime scene

Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch team probing the murder of Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das today seized the 9 mm pistol which had been used in the crime.

The team also seized three rounds of live ammunition and the mobile phone of accused police ASI Gopal Krushna Das.

“The seized gun and bullets will be sent for ballistic examination,” said a senior official of the CB.

The Crime Branch team headed by DSP Ramesh Chandra Dora accompanied by scientific and ballistic experts visited the crime spot and seized an empty case along with other materials.

The team also examined the eye witnesses to the crime, sources said.

In a related development, another team of the Crime Branch led by DSP Sishir Mishra conducted probe in the capital city here.

The autopsy of the minster’s body had been done at Capital Hospital here and the entire process was videographed, said the official.

The team also seized the treatment records of the minister at a private hospital here and his blood-stained clothes. The viscera sample has been preserved for further chemical examination, he added.

“We will soon produce the accused in a court and try to take him on remand for further investigation. Additional Director General Police (Crime Branch) Arun Bothra is supervising the probe,” said the official.
