NABARD estimates Odisha’s credit potential at over Rs 71 cr for 2018-19

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said NABARD has projected an overall credit potential for the state under priority sector at Rs 71,419 crore for the year 2018-19.

Participating in the state credit seminar organised by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) here, the Chief Minister said under the agriculture sector, the state level plan has estimated credit flow of Rs 38,378 crore in the state during next financial year.

“I am happy to know that NABARD has provided developmental financial assistance of Rs 14,715 crore during last year and during the current year, it is expected to cross Rs 16,000 crore,” Patnaik said.

He sought the cooperation of banks and other stakeholders to play a more pro-active role in meeting the potential credit demand of the state.

He also appreciated NABARD for its initiative in implementing 51 Tribal Development Projects and 108 Watershed Development Projects in the state.

K.C. Panigrahi, Chief General Manager of NABARD, said Potential Linked Credit Plans (PLPs) is well appreciated by all as it provides inputs to departments of the state government, various organisations/entities and banks in formulation of their policies and programmes for ensuring enhanced credit flow.
