Narayanpatna/Bhubaneswar, Mar 10 :

Nachika Linga, the popular tribal leader and head of the Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh ( CMAS) of Narayanpatna, who has been underground for nearly four years now, is likely to address an open general body meeting of the CMAS on Tuesday at Balipeta close to Narayanpatna, reliable sources said.

The CMAS general body, the sources said, will take a final decision on Nachika Linga’s plans to work overground.  He will abide by the verdict of his colleagues, the sources said.

Nachika, according to the sources, wants to operate overground and is contemplating contesting from Laxmipur assembly constituency as an independent candidate in the ensuing elections.

There are speculations that Nachika may surrender to a local court  after addressing the CMAS meeting, the sources said.

Nachika Linga is wanted in a number of cases including murder. However, talking to OST a few days ago, he had denied all charges slapped by the police against him and said he is not prepared to surrender to the police because he is not a criminal or had done anything wrong.

” I have all along fought for the people and their rights. I also wish to make it clear I have nothing to do with the Maoists or their ideology. I am for my people and their struggle for justice”, he told OST.

It may be mentioned here that there have been media and police reports of Linga being hand in glove with the outlawed CPI-Maoist and taking their active help while leading the radical Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh agitation in Narayapatna and Bandhugaon.
