Nagaland Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya was Saturday given additional charge of Assam as incumbent JB Patnaik is completing his term, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said.
“The President of India has been pleased to appoint Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya, governor of Nagaland, to discharge the functions of the governor of Assam, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the governor of Assam is made,” it said.
Patnaik, who assumed office as Assam governor on December 11, 2009, completes his tenure on December 10.
