Nandankanan Zoo to remain closed for visitors on weekends

Bhubaneswar: As part of COVID-19 guidelines to contain spread of infections, the authorities have decided to close Nandankanan Zoo and State Botanical Garden for visitors on weekends.

The Nandankanan Zoological Park State Botanical Garden will remain closed for visitors on every Saturday & Sunday till further order, an order by Nandankanan Zoological Park Deputy Director stated today.

As per the order, the zoo and the Botanical Garden will remain opened for visitors from Monday to Friday at usual timings at 7.30 AM to 5.30 PM.

The NZP advised the visitors to follow the COVID appropriate behaviour and obey the protocols issued time to time by the State Government.

The zoo reopened for visitors on August 3 after three months of lockdown.

Usually, the wildlife habitat located on outskirts of Bhubaneswar remains closed on every Monday. In view of COVID cases in the city, the zoo will remain closed on weekends for visitors to carry out sanitisation work to prevent further transmission of virus, source said.
