Narasingha seeks clarification on CBI’s visit to Odisha Assly

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Mar 22:

The issue of media reports about the visit of a CBI team to the Odisha Assembly to inquire into vehicle passes issued to legislators and Ministers by the state Assembly’s secretariat during the period 2010-13 was raised by leader of Opposition (LOP) Narasingha Mishra in the House today.

Mishra questioned how the CBI entered the Assembly premises. He asked whether the Speaker had given permission to the Central agency to enter the Assembly premises since CBI cannot enter Assembly premises without the former’s permission.

If not then, how without Speaker permission the agency had entered the premises, Mishra asked. It’s an insult to the dignity of the House, he added.

Mishra said on inquiry at the personal level with the security officer of the House he has come to know that a CBI official had visited the Assembly yesterday.

He demanded a clarification from the Speaker on this account.
