Narasingha urges Odisha CM to appoint Lokayukta to end PC

Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly and senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra has urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to take immediate steps for appointment of Lokayukta if he is really serious to abolish PC (percentage) in government offices.

“To convince people that you are really serious, you should take immediate steps for enforcing the Odisha Lokayukta Act which has already received the assent of President of India and awaiting Government notification for implementation of the law,” wrote Mishra to Chief Minister on Tuesday.

“So long notification is not issued; the Act will not come into force. It is abnormally delayed. I hope, you will take immediate steps for appointment of Lokayukta in Odisha who can deal with corruption matters including PC,” he pointed out.

The Leader of Opposition further stated in the letter that so long as steps are not taken for the appointment of Lokayukta, there is every reason for people to think that his call for the abolition of PC is a political slogan and lacks political will.

All the blocks in the state are dens of corruption where PC system is rampant and no file moves without payment, Mishra said.
