National Karate Championship: Odisha bag two bronze on last day

Odisha bagged two bronze medals in the individual weight category in the National Karate Championship which concluded at the Talkatora Indoor stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.

In the men’s 55-kg event, last year’s champion Dilip Kumar Jena had to remain content with a bronze medal while in the women’s 50-kg event, three-time state champion and bronze medalist of 2001 National championship Anupama Swain bagged a bronze medal after 13 years.

With this, Odisha has won one silver and three bronze medals in this year’s championship.

The top four performers in each event of the championship have been selected to join the training camp for the Asian Games while top eight performers have been selected for the National Games.
