Naveen in action mode to woo people, partymen ahead of poll

Bhubaneswar: Keeping the next general elections and already due civic poll in mind, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has initiated populist steps to woo the people and the partymen as well.

On the Independence Day yesterday, Naveen has announced “Mo Sarkar” programme, which will come into effect on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). Under the programme, Chief Minister, his ministerial colleagues and the bureaucrats will collect feedback from the people on the public service extended to the citizens.

Earlier, Naveen had extended the tenure of the populist Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme for another five years soon after the spectacular success of his party in the recently-held general elections.

Naveen had crafted pro-people measures ever since he came to power for the fifth consecutive term in the state. On the day he and his new team took charge on May 29, Naveen had decided to accord priority to the implementation of the electoral promises made in the party manifesto.

While addressing his new team and later to the top bureaucrats, Naveen had stressed on the public satisfaction. He had asked them to collect feedbacks from the ground level and act accordingly to earn public appreciation.

Naveen added 2 Ts (Time and Transformation) to his earlier enunciated 3 T mantra (Teamwork, Transparency and Technology), the hallmark of good governance.

Meanwhile, to carry forward his plans, Naveen has refurbished the state and police administration by appointing new chief secretary, development commissioner and the agriculture commissioner and other top bureaucrats in the recent days.

Apart from the revamp measures in the administration, Naveen has also initiated measures to cheer up party leaders. Apart from inducting 20 party MLAs, new and old, into his new ministry Naveen appointed 12 MLAs and 17 ministers as the chairpersons of the district planning committees recently. Today, he appointed 35 party leaders as the chairpersons and advisors of the state bodies and state public sector undertakings.
