Bhubaneswar: Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) Chairman Naveen Jindal today urged the Odisha Government to intervene and take steps to solve issues like increasing iron ore prices and coal shortage in the state.
Briefing mediapersons after meeting Chief Secretary AP Padhi at Secretariat here, Jindal said,“While the price of iron ore is decreasing in international marketing, it is increasing in Odisha. Besides, transporters are increasing freight rate time to time adding to the challenges faced by steel industries in the State.”
Jindal further stated that there is scarcity of coal for steel industries and urged upon MCL and Coal India to increase production for efficient operation of steel industry in the state.
He requested the Government to take immediate steps to increase iron ore availability for industries in competitive price and implement the notification regarding freight rate for mineral transport in the State.
The JSPL Chairman also informed that except two to three steel companies, a number of steel industries are under National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). Hence, the Government should intervene to rationalize the input prices and the transportation rates in the interest of overall economy of the State, he added.
