Naveen meets Railway minister, demands Rs 3,160 cr for Odisha in Rly budget

Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik today met Union Railway minister Sadanand Gowda and demanded a budgetary allocation of Rs 3,160 for Odisha in the forthcoming railway budget.

Apart from raising several demands concerning railways in the state, the chief minister demanded modernization of Bhubaneswar Railway Station, establishment of a wagon manufacturing unit in Ganjam, establishment of a wagon maintenance factory in Kalahandi and speeding up of ongoing railway projects in the state, sources said.

The chief minister’s meeting with the Railways minister was originally scheduled on Tuesday but had to be cancelled after the sudden and sad demise of the Union Rural Development minister Gopinath Munde.

Naveen has already met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Urban Development minister M Venkaiah Naidu to discuss several issues and demands of the state.
