Naveen takes oath as Odisha CM for fifth term

Bhubaneswar: BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik was sworn in as Odisha Chief Minister for a record fifth consecutive term at the Exhibition Ground here today.

Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal administered the oath of office and secrecy to Patnaik and his council of ministers, comprising 11 Cabinet Ministers and nine Ministers of State, at the swearing-in ceremony which was held for the first time outside the Raj Bhavan.

Chief Minister’s elder brother Prem Patnaik, sister Gita Mehta and many dignitaries attended the event.

The BJD had registered a mammoth victory in the recently-concluded Assembly Elections by winning 112 seats. Polling was held for 146 constituencies of the 147-member Odisha Legislative Assembly. Election to Patkura assembly constituency in Kendrapara district was countermanded and postponed after the death of the then BJD candidate Bed Prakash Agarwalla.
