“Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is appealing to the people of Odisha to vote for BJD and elect the 21 BJD candidates to Parliament from the state. However, voting for BJD will only create instability at the Centre. He wants to create instability at Centre so that he can hide his government’s misdeeds,” said BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma BJP in a press release issued here.

Stating that the Supreme Court is all set to hand over the probe in the chit fund and mining scams to the CBI, he said the ruling party is trying to save its ministers and other leaders involved in the scam by moving towards the so-called federal front.

“Knowing that these scams will expose the actual face of the government and party leaders, the scared party and its supremo are now urging the people to send maximum candidates to Parliament to save its skin,” said the party.

The state-based parties or regional forces does not have a national vision and cannot come out with a cohesive policy or programme. The proposal of regional parties, including BJD, to form a federal front will not materialise, said the party.

Sharma cited the instances of the governments of Choudhary Charan Singh, V P Singh, Chandra Shekhar, H D Deve Gowda and I K Gujral, which collapsed within months of coming to power.
