NCC girl cadet from Odisha to lead Republic Day parade in New Delhi

Along with her, nine others have been chosen from Odisha after much hard work and a strict round of selection. 

Bhubaneswar: Bringing pride and joy for Odisha, the NCC parade for Republic Day in New Delhi this year will be lead by a girl cadet from the State. Meet Sonali Sahu, a student of Psychology Honours in Prananath Autonomous College in Khurdha district of Odisha. Hailing from Gurujang village in Khurdha district, she has been selected to command the girls contingent of NCC at the Republic Day parade in the national capital. While its a dream come true for Sonali, it is a matter of equal pride for people of Odisha as she shall lead 148 NCC cadets in the parade. Along with her, nine others have been chosen from Odisha after much hard work and a strict round of selection.

While preparations are in full swing for the Republic Day, Sonali and other cadets started rehearsals on Kartavya Path in Central Secretariat of New Delhi since January 5.

“I am counting my blessings. This is a dream come true as I shall be commanding 148 NCC cadets from the girls contingent for the Republic Day celebrations. I could not have achieved this without the unconditional support of my parents, friends and mentors specially Lieutenant Colonel Bikas Mandal,” said an overwhelmed Sonali. She also added that she was chosen because of her specialised experience.
