Nearly 1.50 lakh doses of Covaxin to reach Odisha capital in a week

Bhubaneswar: Another consignment of COVID-19 vaccine ‘Covaxin’ developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with  Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) will reach Odisha in a week.

The consignment will consist of 1,49,760 doses of the indigenous  vaccine, informed state Vaccine In-charge and Health and Family Welfare Director Bijay Panigrahi here today.

Briefing mediapersons, Panigrahi said Covaxin will be administered to beneficiaries only in Bhubaneswar. The immunization will be conducted at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs)s in the state for three days a week:  Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

However, the drive will be carried out at both Government and private medical college and hospitals everyday except for holidays, he added.

Yesterday,  44,880 beneficiaries were vaccinated at 436 session sites across the state. Total, 1,13,623  people have been given the first dose of Covaxin and Covishield vaccines, the official added.
