The second phase National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was conducted across the country where around 15, 000 students took the test in Odisha today.
As many as 14, 290 students appeared for the eligibility test for admission into medical colleges across 25 centres in Odisha. Besides, aspirants will be appearing the test at Berhampur and Rourkela centres too.
Around 4.5 lakh students across the country appeared for the exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The examination was scheduled from 10 am to 1 pm.
The examination was conducted amid strict surveillance and security. Metal detectors and mobile phone jammers were installed at centres. Students were not allowed to carry any electronic device with them.
According to the schedule, the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) for admission into MBBS and BDS courses held on May 1 was treated as the first round of the NEET.
However, those who had not applied for AIPMT have been given the opportunity to appear in round two today.
The combined result will be declared on August 17, in order to complete the admission process by September 30 - the deadline set by the Supreme Court in its previous orders.
