A major error reported in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017 conducted by CBSE on Sunday for admission into medical and dental colleges across the country as the candidates were given the question papers in Hindi instead of Odia language in Odisha.

Without having any option, the vernacular medium students were bound to appear the entrance test in question papers written in Hindi language. It triggered huge criticism among the students.

According to report, Surjya Narayan Gouda of Buguda area of Ganjam district in Odisha had appeared the entrance at Gosain Nuagaon DAV Public School. He had applied for entrance in Odia language, but he was given the question paper in Hindi. Even though he approached the teacher on duty at the exam centre seeking questions in Odia language, but could not avail it. Apart from him, several other candidates also faced the same situation at the centre.

Around 4,000 students had appeared the national level medical entrance test at seven centres in Berhampur.

Demand was pressed by the guardians and students for probe into the irregularities in NEET question papers.
