Bhubaneswar, Jan 23:

Notwithstanding the arrest of three persons, including the man said to be the prime suspect, yesterday, the last has clearly not been heard in the Gadadhar Behera murder case.

Commissionerate Police on Thursday started examining the CCTV footage at the Eagle Technology Resources, a software company, to find out the possible involvement of people other than the three already arrested in the case.

Gadadhar was working as peon cum data entry operator in the software company, located at A1/64 in Nayapalli here.

“We have started further investigation after getting another complaint from the broethr of the deceased today to ascertain the involvement of any other person in the case,” Inspector-in-charge of Nayapalli police station K C Mund said.

Suspecting that the murder was a pre-planned act and may have the involvement of some more persons, Gadadhar’s brother Muralidhar Behera today filed another complaint at Nayapalli police station against the company’s chief Hrushikesh Patra stating that police should interrogate him and examine the CCTV cameras from the date of murder.

“We suspect that the brutal killing was a pre-planned act and some more people, apart from the three arrested yesterday, could be involved in it. Therefore we have filed another FIR today against the company chief and appealed to the police to interrogate him and scan the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the company thoroughly,” said Muralidhar.

“From the day Gadadhar went missing and even after the news of murder of Gadadhar came to light, Hrushikesh has neither contacted his family nor did he come to see his dead body yesterday. Being the chief of the Eagle Technology Resources, his foremost duty is to inquire about his staff working in his office. Moreover, the deceased was missing since January 19 but we have not got any response from the company chief till now. He was totally silent on the murder case,” said Muralidhar.

“There is thus reason to suspect his involvement in the case,” he added.

Muralidhar informed that another reason for suspecting the company chief’s involvement was that yesterday hundreds of relatives of Gadadhar of Athantara of Balipatna had blocked the road connecting Uttara-Nimapada disrupting traffic for many hours to protest his death and demanded the presence of Hrushikesh at the spot but failed to get him.

In the meantime, the police have forwarded the accused Biswakalyan Puspalak (26), a security guard and the prime accused, who hails from Madhaba village in Niali area of Cuttack district, Balaram Padhi, a resident of Lankapada village in Puri district and Chhabi Mallick, a driver of Ratanpur village in Niali to a local court here today.

The accused were arrested for killing Gadadhar on January 17 late night and destroying all evidence of murder.
