Bhubaneswar: A newborn baby girl was reportedly found abandoned near Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) in the capital city of Odisha today.
The baby girl was found in a sack near a drain at Raghunathpur near NZP in the early morning.

Pabitra Kumar Das, a resident of nearby Bhagbanpur, heard the crying of the baby while cutting grass near the drain at around 5.30 am, sources said.

Das rescued the baby and rushed her to a private hospital. Later, the baby girl was shifted to Capital Hospital after her condition deteriorated, sources added.

“The baby has been admitted to the paediatric ward of Capital Hospital. Her condition is stable now,” said a doctor.

Das and his wife Pravati, meanwhile, urged the authorities concerned to allow them to take care of the upbringing of the baby girl.

“We will produce the baby before the Child Line. They will take the necessary steps for her upbringing,” said an official of Capital hospital.
