Newborn girl found abandoned near forest in Odisha

Dhenkanal: A newborn girl was found abandoned near a forest at Kamakhya Chhak under Sadar police limits in Dhenkanal district early this morning. However, the baby was later rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Sources said some locals first spotted the newborn near a forest at around 6 AM and immediately called up police. Soon after, cops reached the spot and rushed her to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here for treatment. She was kept in Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of the hospital.

Doctors said the girl was born around 12 hours ago but her health condition is stable now.

Meanwhile, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) officials reached the hospital and held a discussion with the authorities regarding custody of the abandoned baby.
