Newborn girl found abandoned on roadside in Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: Infant abandonment continues unabated in Odisha with a newborn girl was found lying on a roadside in Tilapada village located under Badachana block in Jajpur district today.

According to sources, the locals heard a baby crying on the roadside in the morning. They suspected that somebody might have abandoned the baby girl near the road where she could have been devoured by stray  dogs or run over by any vehicle.

The locals rescued the baby and took her to a nearby hospital for treatment. The doctors attending to baby said that she was not more than three to four days old.

Later, the locals informed the District Child Protection Unit and handed over the baby to them.
