Newborn girl found dead in drain in Odisha hospital

Balangir: A newborn girl was found dead in a drain on premises of the Bhima Bhoi Medical College & Hospital (MCH) in Balangir town today.

Wrapped in a polythene bag, the body of baby girl was found floating in a drain located behind the MCH building on the state-run hospital campus.

However, it is obscure whether the newborn was thrown into drain alive or a stillborn baby dumped after delivery.

The hospital authorities are yet to make any statement on the issue,

Many a time, such incident has been reported in the past from the government hospital, where the bodies of newborn children were found. Even after repeated incidents, the hospital authorities took no action to examine the fact.

With the fresh incident reported again from the hospital, the locals demanded probe into the matter.
