Bhubaneswar: A newborn baby boy was allegedly stolen from a hospital at Odisha’s Balasore yesterday.
The incident took place at Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
Anita Dandapata of Kulhachada under Baliapal block delivered a baby boy at maternity ward of Balasore DHH yesterday.
A few hours later, an unidentified woman reached near Anita’s bed at the maternity ward and asked the latter to hand over the baby boy to her for polio vaccination.
The woman allegedly stole the baby boy and fled the hospital after Anita handed over the newborn to her.
As the woman did not return, Anita’s family members launched a frantic search to trace her and the baby boy but in vain.
They later lodged a complaint in this regard with police. After receiving the complaint, the cops launched a probe and examined the CCTV footage from the hospital to identify the woman.
