Newly-wed woman’s death in Bhubaneswar: Mother-in-law arrested

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police today arrested a woman in connection with the death of her daughter-in-law Sushree Sangeeta Bastia in Kalinga Nagar area of Odisha capital.

The accused allegedly used to torture Sushree over dowry demand.

The deceased’s husband and father-in-law have absconded while efforts were on by cops to trace them.

Police were examining the Call Detail Record (CDR) of Sushree’s phone number.

It is being alleged that Sushree took the extreme step of ending her life on Diwali evening over torture by in-laws and husband’s extramarital affair.

Her father has filed a case with the Tamando police alleging that she was strangled to death by her in-laws.

In January 2021, Sushri had married Praveen Nayak. She was working as a nurse in a private hospital.

The couple was staying in Kalinga Nagar locality in the city.
