Newlywed engineer critical as car catches fire in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Bhubaneswar: A newlywed engineer reportedly sustained critical burn injuries after his car caught fire in Sundargarh district of Odisha today.

Victim Darasingh Bagh is a resident of Bileigarh village in Sundargarh. Bagh has been posted as an engineer at a power grid in Kalahandi district, sources said.

According to sources, Bagh’s wedding ceremony was held at his native village on June 23 this year.

Bagh’s Maruti Baleno car bearing no. OD 15N 4422 caught fire when he was travelling to a nearby place in the morning, sources said.

Bagh sustained critical burn injuries in his face and hands, sources added.

Family members and villagers rescued Bagh and rushed him to Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). He was later shifted to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Rourkela after his condition deteriorated, villagers said.

Bagh had reportedly bought the car two years ago.
