The state-of-the-art Treatment System - 02 is being developed by RSP as a major step towards strengthening its environmental infrastructure in the Steel Township. Designed to handle 1900 M³/Hr of industrial effluent, the project aligns with the recommendations of the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) and is aimed at significantly improving the quality of life in the region.
RSP had entered into a comprehensive agreement in March 2025 with a consortium comprising M/s Effwa Infra & Research Ltd. (EIRL) as Leader, and M/s SMC Resources Sdn Bhd. (SMC) as Partner. The contract includes installation, commissioning, and five years of operation and maintenance of the facility. The facility will employ advanced technologies such as DAF, MGF, UFRO, and Press Filter systems for the efficient treatment of effluent.
With a project cost of approximately Rs. 161 crore, the work is progressing swiftly and is targeted for completion by September 2026. The project is being executed under the leadership of Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge, RSP with additional charge of DSP & ISP and Mr. Sudip Pal Chowdhury, ED (Projects). M/s Mecon Ltd. is the consultant, and the user department is WMD.
The core team driving the project includes Mr. D.K. Sahoo, Mr. Hiralal Mohapatra, Mr. D. Rabha GM I/c, (WMD), Mr. V.K. Yadav DGM (Projects), and Mr. D. Garg Sr. Manager, (WMD), among others.
RSP has already commissioned key components under the ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) scheme, such as the STP at Plant, Lagoon Management, and TS-1. The addition of Treatment System - 02 reinforces RSP’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The initiative is expected to enhance water recycling capacity, reduce environmental footprint, and provide a cleaner and healthier environment for the residents of the Steel Township.
