The Yoga Sessions organised by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) to mark the 11th International Yoga Day on 21st June evoked enthusiastic response with more than 100 residents of the Steel city joining the exercise in the morning session. The Mass Yoga Session was organized in the morning at Indo-German Club, Sector-2, Rourkela.

Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge (DIC) with the additional charge of DIC, Durgapur Steel Plant & IISCO Steel Plant along with Mrs. Namrata Verma, President, Deepika Mahila Sanghati (DMS), Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR), Mr. Biswaranjan Palai, ED (Works), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines), Mrs. Pravati Misra, Mrs. Pratignya Palai and Mrs. Reeta Rani, all Vice Presidents of DMS, many CGMs and other senior officers of RSP, and around 100 residents of Steel Township attended the session.

People from all age groups and regular yoga practitioners from different Yoga Centres being run at Community Centres of RSP across the township performed Yoga in this programme.

The session was conducted by the Yoga Teachers of RSP’s Yoga Centres led by Mr. Akrura Martha, Yoga Guru & President, Patanjali Yog Samiti, Sundargarh. The Programme was anchored by Mr. Anil Mallick from Silicon Steel Mill.

One more session was also held in the evening at Indo-German Club which also witnessed enthusiastic participation from the residents.

In the Yoga Session held at the Community Centre, Sector-22, more than 100 persons took part. Ms. Babli Kaur, Faculty, Art of Living, and the volunteers of the organization guided the participants in performing various Yogasans in the session.

The sessions were coordinated by Mr. Raghu Nandan Padhi, Deputy Manager, Sports Cell under the active guidance of Mr. T G Kanekar, CGM (TS & CSR).

More than 200 students and teachers of Ispat English Medium School (IEMS), Sector-20 observed International Yoga Day with a spirited Yoga Session organized in the school campus to mark the day. Dr. Sushreeta Das, Principal, IEMS, Sector-20 led the session and explained the benefits of Yoga to the students.

In a similar programme organized at Ispat English Medium School, Sector-22, about 100 students and teachers performed Yoga. Mr. S N Panda, Head Master of the School guided and team, while Mr. Subrat Meher, Yoga teacher coordinated. A Yoga session was also organised at Beginner’s Academy in which students and staff of the school enthusiastically took part in celebrating the day.

It is worth mentioning that to promote Yoga and inspire the residents to lead healthy lives, RSP has been managing 15 Yoga Centres which are operating regularly at different community Centres of the Steel Township.
