NIFT’s attractive new courses in fashion for Odisha students

Bhubaneswar,June 4:

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), the premier institution for fashion education in the country, has launched some exclusive high-end short-term programmes for the youth seeking a career in fashion technology its campus in Odisha’s capital city Bhubaneswar.

The programmes are : Textile Design for Fashion (TDF), Fashion & Clothing Technology (FCT), Indian Fashion Apparel & Boutique Management (IFABM), Fashion Retail Management (FRM) and Garment Export Merchandising Management (GEMM).

The application forms for these courses would be available to interested students till June 23 this month, NIFT sources said.

Apart from these courses, two summer programmes of one week duration each in the month of June- Fashion Sketching, Styling and CAD for Textile Printing – have also been introduced.

Eligible students in from Odisha can now apply for these high-end fashion education programmes which is now available to them at a most affordable price, informed Dr K.C.S. Ray, Director of NIFT, Bhubaneswar.

Dr Ray said the USP of these new programmes is the job opportunity they offer in the highly evolving textile and garment sector catering to the fashion industry. Industry exposure is mandatory for all students enrolled in these short-term programmes, he said.

Another notable feature of these programmes is to impart  knowledge and skills and empower  women including housewives to start their own business even out of their homes with very little investment, said Dr Ray.

NIFT has been able to fill up the long felt gap in quality short-term job/entrepreneur-oriented professional fashion education programmes that appeal to both youth and women of the state, Dr Ray added.

With high quality faculty and laboratories equipped with latest machineries and equipment from all parts of the world and industry linkages, students joining these programmes can expect an enriched educational experience with bright career prospects. Hostel facility is available for girls only on first come first serve basis.
