Nigerian singer Samuel Singh sings African Mix of popular Ollywood number ‘Maya Re Baya’

Bhubaneswar: The peppy Ollywood song ‘Maya Re Baya’ is breaking the internet with its popularity. With numerous fan-made videoes and Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff even grooving to it, this song has become a fan favourite.

Nigerian Singer Samuel Singh has now released his version of this Odia number. Samuel Adepoju aka Samuel Singh, who is known for his love for Indian songs released the Africa Mix of this song on his YouTube channel last evening. “Hello Odisha! Jay Jagannath! This is ‘Maya Re Baya’. Tokata Phasigala!,” is how the 27-year-old begins the song.

The video features Igbo dancers of Nigeria and Samuel manages to pronounce the Odia lyrics peppered with Nigerian accent.”Hello Odisha, You loved my Rangabati song. So Here I Sing One more Odia song for u. The recent viral Odia Song “This is Maya re Baya” of Actor Sabyasachi, from Movie Tokata Fasigala. Lyricist Nirmal Nayak and actor Sabysachi Mishra thanked him for this gesture.

This Nigerian also released a cover of the classic Odia folf song ‘Rangabati’, inspired by the Coke Studio version of Sona Mohapatra in February this year. That video has amassed 1.1 million views on YouTube, so far.

From Bhojpuri song, ‘Lollipo Lagelu’ to Tamil song ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’, Samuel has made covers on a number of Bollywood and international songs, as well. In 2012, he came to India to pursue higher studies and that is when he got hooked to different kinds of regional songs.
