Night curfew: Section 144 clamped in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: As part of precautionary measures against transmission of COVID-19 in twin city of the State, the Commissionerate Police today promulgated prohibitory order under section 144 of CrPC restricting unnecessary movements during night curfew, which will be clamped from tonight.

The prohibitory order under section 144 will remain in force from 9.00 PM to 5.00 AM with effect from April 17 under Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police limits till further order, informed Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi today.

With imposition of prohibitory orders, the movements of vehicles and public will be restricted during night curfew.

However, essential workers will be allowed for movement on showing their identity card issued by their respective organisation for bona fide official work.

Worth mentioning here that the State Government has imposed night curfew in all urban areas of 20 districts including Khordha and Cuttack from 9.00 PM to 5.00 PM with effect from April 17 other than Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri districts to contain spread of COVID infections.
