Bhubaneswar: Night safari in Bharatpur forest of Chandaka-Dampara Wildlife Sanctuary will commence from January 29.
According to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sarat Chandra Behera, the night trail, primarily intended for educational purposes, will be conducted in three time slots daily from 6 pm to 8 pm. Booking for the first slot will be at 6 pm, followed by the second and third slots at 7 pm and 8 pm, respectively.
The charges for an eight-seater vehicle are Rs 1,500, while for a 12-seater vehicle, it is Rs 2,000.
“Many people are facing difficulties in enjoying the safari at Chandaka Wildlife Sanctuary at daytime due to their busy work schedule. These people can now enjoy the safari at night. The visitors can watch wild animals like deer, wild boars and elephants during the night safari,” said Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Susanta Nanda.
Wildlife enthusiasts, researchers and students will be hugely benefitted by the initiative. They can now watch many nocturnal animals and observe them closely during the night safari at Chandaka, Nanda said.
