Bhubaneswar: Night safari was launched today in Chandaka-Dampara wildlife sanctuary here. This facility will be available for tourists, nature and wildlife lovers till 9.00 PM every day.

The night trail was started under Bharatpur Section, informed PCCF (Wildlife) Susanta Nanda.

The nocturnal nature trail began in Chandaka-Dampada sanctuary. Schoolchildren were thrilled to be a part of this exciting moment and were rewarded with a grand sighting in the lung of Bhubaneswar City, the PCCF wrote taking to his personal ‘X’ handle.

Arrangements were made for at least 12 vehicles to take schoolchildren to the jungle a night. The safari will remain out of bounds for visitors from 9.00 PM up to 9.30 AM the next morning.

Night safari will help nature and wildlife lovers enjoy and learn about the animals in their wild habitats in a more suitable way for those who do not find time to visit the sanctuary during the day hours. Wildlife species like deer, elephant, barking deer, porcupine, and wild boar can be witnessed, Nanda stated.

The night trail is primarily intended for educational purposes. It will be conducted in three-time slots between 6.00 PM and 8.00 PM every day. Booking for the first slot will be done at 6.00 PM, followed by the second and third slots at 7.00 PM and 8.00 PM, respectively.

Wildlife enthusiasts, researchers, and students will be hugely benefitted by the initiative. They can now watch several animals from close quarters, DFO Sarat Chandra Behera earlier said.
