Bhubaneswar: A nightclub owner was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a woman excise official during a raid here in the wee hours today.

The accused has been identified as Satya Mohanty, the 'Rain The Club' owner.

The Laxmisagar police registered a case against the nightclub owner under sections 126(2)/121(1)/132/221/78 of the BNS.

According to reports, Bhubaneswar excise had raided all dance bars on Saturday night in the city. A team of excise officials led by Sumati Tripathy, Superintendent of Excise Bhubaneswar, conducted a raid on the Rain The Club at around 1.40 AM in the Laxmisagar area.

The nightclub owner Satya Mohanty, who was present there, allegedly scolded excise officials in filthy languages for carrying out the raid. When the excise superintendent intervened asking him to cooperate with the team during the inspection, the latter allegedly touched her with a bad intention in the presence of the excise staff and media personnel.

Following complaint lodged by the woman excise official, the Laxmisagar police detained the accused and later arrested him under various sections of the revised criminal laws. The accused was forwarded to a local court.
