The Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested nine persons, including five juveniles, in connection with loot and dacoity in the city. and seized electronic articles worth Rs 7 lakh from their possession.

According to the Inspector-in-charge of Airfield police station Rashmi Ranjan Sahu, the juveniles were looting electronic items from residential areas in Sundarpada, Pokhariput and Old town areas in the city and selling the stolen goods to a few selected people who have also been arrested.

The juveniles were identified as Keshab Rana (12), Chandrabhanu Rana (15) alias Sonu, Santanu Mallick (13) alias Bablu, Raj Narayan Seth (16) alias Raja and Nageswar Seth (17) of the Kargil Basti in the city, the police said. The 'regular' buyers who were arrested are Rakesh Kanhar (22) alias Raka of Phulbani staying at the Airport CPW Colony, Bijay Kumar Seth alias Mithun of Pokhariput, Sachin Patra (23) of Bhimtangi and Kalia Mallick (25) alias Ramesh of Kargil Basti.

The police also seized 35 articles including six mobiles, four CPUs, three laptops, two printers, two mother boards, two gas cylinders, two LCD TVs, one DVD player, four motor pumps, two grinders and gold ornaments from the accused persons. Kalia Mallick, a member of this gang and a habitual offender was forwarded to the court in a case recently,  the Airfield police said.

All the accused will be forwarded to the court on Saturday.
