Nine minor girls rescued from Rayagada railway station in Odisha

Rayagada: Odisha Child Helpline members with the help of Railway Police Force (RPF) rescued nine minor girls from Rayagada railway station this morning.

The girls were about to board a train to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh to work as bonded labourers.

The rescued girls have been identified as residents of Kolnara and Ramanaguda block in Rayagada district.

However, the broker managed to give a slip during the raid. The broker was taking them to Andhra Pradesh as bonded labourers to work in a fishing company, informed a Child Helpline member.

They will be handed over to their family members after counseling, the members added.
